I know I've been to more than those listed here but these are the ones that I can identify based on a ticket stub, or
have attended since I started maintaining the table in around 2006.
For most games prior to 1997, I may still have the ticket stub but it's buried in a box deep in my closet. All of the games since 1997
I have scanned the ticket stub where I could find it, or linked the PDF of a printable ticket. For a couple of the games I have
no ticket since I used my phone for entry to the game and either I forgot to get a screenshot, or, as in recent years, the app prohibits capturing screenshots of the ticket.
Ironically, 1997 seems to be a good date to start this table as MLB.com provides an API to obtain box scores in JSON format, and
that interface, as of 2021, tracks box scores back to 1997. I started using this JSON in 2019 when I accidentally deleted the file where I was manually storing all of the game scores. Getting the JSON
and caching it for subsequent formatting saved a lot of hassle in rebuilding the file.
MLB.com seem to be slowly expanding this database, but at least I know
box score data is available for all games in this table. I'll keep monitoring this to see if it supports older games as I might just get around to cleaning out that closet in the next few months. (Quick trial and error now shows games back to 1995 as of 2023).
I'm pretty certain I was at the game on 07/13/1989
because I was on a customer visit near Toronto the following day, and at GUIDE in Toronto the following week
and I remember for sure that McGwire and Canseco both homered in that game for the A's. It was a big deal because it was the first season for the SkyDome.
I know I went to at least a half a dozen Mets games
in '86, and several more since but I don't remember the details of the games, and can't find the ticket stubs.
From '97 on I have saved the tickets (at least until I could scan them).
I'm 99% certain I saw Mets beat the Dodgers on
05/22/1987, homers by Darryl Strawberry and Kevin McReynolds, and the Dodgers
jumping out to a 3-0 first-inning lead on a homer by Roberto Guerrero before I even got to my seat.
I'm also 99% certain I was at the game on
07/03/1986 - Two homers by Strawberry, and 9 full innings
by Ron Darling, with the Mets winning in 10, seems very familiar to me. Also would have been fireworks night at Shea, and I have been to a few of these.
I also seem to recall being at a game where Strawberry hit 2 and McReynolds also hit one, which may nave been
07/03/1990.
Again, this would have been a fireworks night, so this one is also very likely.
I also know one of the games was a weekend game where Kevin McReynolds hit 2 home runs, I think it had to be
06/12/1994 since this is the only
time I can find that he did this at Shea stadium, on a day I would have been there (Saturday or Sunday), and the Mets win.
