Some time back I decided just for fun to try to come up with a formula for who the best pitchers ever were based on Cy Young voting. I tried a few different algorithms and finally decided to do it with a points system, awarding points as follows:

• 10 points for winning the award
• 5 points for finishing second in the voting
• 3 points for finishing third
• 1 point for getting votes but not finishing in the top three.
• 3 bonus points for a unanimous win.
• 1 bonus point for being named on a ballot prior to 1969. Rationale: Votes were only cast for first place.
• 3 bonus points for being named on a ballot prior to 1967. Rationale: Only one award was given. Starting in 1967 one was given for each league.

So, here are the 303 pitchers who have been named on Cy Young ballots and their corresponding rankings.
