- I know I've been to more than those listed here but these are the ones that I can identify based on a ticket stub
or memory based on the date and events of the game (For example, 7/16/89
I remember because it's the weekend I was at GUIDE in Toronto,
and I remember for sure that McGwire homered in that game for the A's). If you ever hear a baseball analyst
talk about home runs being overrated, note below that the details I remembered when attempting to compile ths list turned out to be primarily
details about who hit home runs!
- I know I went to at least a half a dozen Mets games
in '86, and several more since but I don't remember the details of the games, and can't find the ticket stubs.
From '97 on I have saved the tickets.
- I'm 99% certain I saw Mets beat the Dodgers on
5/22/87, homers by Darryl Strawberry and Kevin McReynolds, and the Dodgers
jumping out to a 3-0 first-inning lead on a homer by Roberto Guerrero before I even got to my seat.
- I'm also 99% certain I was at the game on
7/03/86 - Two homers by Strawberry, and 9 full innings
by Ron Darling, with the Mets winning in 10, seems very familiar to me. Also would have been fireworks night at Shea, and I have been to a few of these.
- I also seem to recall being at a game where Strawberry hit 2 and McReynolds also hit one, which may nave been
7/03/90.
Again, this would have been a fireworks night, so this one is also very likely.
- I also know one of the games was a weekend game where Kevin McReynolds hit 2 home runs, I think it had to be
6/12/94 since this is the only
time I can find that he did this at Shea stadium, on a day I would have been there (Saturday or Sunday), and the Mets win.
